All internal chutes need to have a trash chute discharge door that is held open with a 165 degree fusible link as per NFPA code. Sometimes they are called Hoppers, Horizontal chute discharge doors (HRD), Guillotine, or Accordion style doors. The fusible link melts when the ambient temperature reaches 165 degrees and closes the door to stop the fire from traveling up the chute and into the building. These doors are suitable for high rise buildings or residential use, including hotels, hospitals, condominiums, nursing homes, and apartment buildings.
